14 साल के गूगल की 10 खास बातें, ऐसे बना इंटरनेट का बादशाह

 

इंटरनेट की दुनिया से जुड़े लोगों से यह पूछना कि आप गूगल के बारे में जानते है, बेमानी सवाल होगा. 1998 में शुरू यह सर्च इंजन जल्द ही लोगों की रोजमर्रा का जीवन का हिस्सा बन गया. गुरुवार को गूगल अपनी 14वीं सालगिरह मना रहा है.

लोग अक्सर पूछते हैं कि गूगल सर्च इंजन होने के क्या मायने हैं, इसका पहला जवाब होता है भरोसा. इंटरनेट पर किसी को कुछ भी चाहिए, उसका पहली शुरूआत गूगल होमपेज से ही होती है. गूगल ने इंटरनेट सर्चिंग को आसान बनाया है. सर्च इंजन ज्यादा यूसर फ्रेंडली हुआ है. यूट्यूब से जीमेल तक और एंड्रोइड से लेकर गूगल अर्थ तक हर जगह पूरी दुनिया गूगलमय हो गई है.

आइए जानते हैं गूगल के बारे में कुछ बातें.

 

 

अगर आपको कोई चीज को सर्च करना हो तो हम कहते हैं गूगल पर सर्च करो न कि इंटरनेट पर। इस बात मतलब यह कि आज गूगल इंटरनेट का पर्याय बन चुका है। इस कंपनी की शुरुआत आज से 14 साल पहले 1995 में हुई थी। गूगल को गूगल बनाने वाले लैरी पेज और सर्जे ब्रिन 1995 में पहली स्टेनफोर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी में मिले। साल 1996 में उन्होंने पहला सर्च इंजन बेकरब बनाया। डोमेन रजिस्टर करने के वक्त इसे गूगल नाम दिया। दरअसल 'गूगल' असल में गोगल की गलत स्पेंलिंग है। गूगल एक बहुत बड़ी संख्या है, जिसमें 1 से लेकर 100 शून्य लगते हैं। गूगल इंक आधिकारिक रूप से 1998 में दर्ज कर ली गई। उस समय दुनिया की बड़ी सॉफ्टवेयर कंपनियों में एक 'सन' ने एक लाख डॉलर के बदले कंपनी खरीदने की कोशिश की थी। वह भी ऐसे समय में, जब गूगल का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं था।

1998 में पहली बार गूगल डूडल दर्शकों को होमपेज पर दिखाई दिया। इसमें नेवाडा में बर्निग फेस्टीवल में भाग ले रहे लोगों के बारे में था। गूगल में डूडल की बहुत बड़ी टीम काम करती है, जो अभी तक एक हजार से ज्यादा डूडल पोस्ट कर चुकी है। डूडल एक खास तरह का लोगो होता है, जो गूगल पर किसी भी खास दिन या किसी बड़े व्यक्ति की याद पर लगाया जाता है।

2000 में गूगल ने एडवर्ड की शुरुआत की। यह सेल्फ सर्विस प्रोग्राम है, जिसकी मदद से कोई भी व्यक्ति ऑनलाइन कैम्पेन चला सकता है। आज के विज्ञापन संबंधी समाधान, जैसे डिस्प्ले, मोबाइल, वीडियो और सिंपल टैक्स्ट की शुरुआत एक दशक पहले हो चुकी थी। इस सर्विस ने हजारों व्यापार फर्म्स को फायदा पहुंचाया।

2004 में अप्रैल फूल यानी एक अप्रैल के दिन गूगल ने जीमेल शुरू किया। सबसे ज्यादा स्टोरेज, तेजी से मेल सेंड करने की क्षमता ने लोगों के बीच इसे लोकप्रिय बना दिया। शुरुआत में इसे जीमेल अकाउंट बनाने के लिए इसका आमंत्रण होना बहुत जरुरी होता था. बाद में पापुलर होने के बाद यह सबके लिए फ्री कर दिया गया.

 

18 अगस्त 2004 में गूगल को नैस्डक में लिस्ट हो गई। उसे शुरुआत में 19,605,052 पब्लिक शेयर मिले। कंपनी ने बेशुमार दौलत कमाई. साथ ही इसमें पैसा लगाने वालों ने भी.

2004 में ही गूगल ने डिजिटल मैपिंग कंपनी कीहोल को अधिग्रहण कर लिया और 2005 में गूगल मैप और गूगल अर्थ जैसी नई एप्लीकेशन लांच की। इसमें ऐसे फीचर हैं, जो पलभर पूरी दुनिया का नाप दें. वही अब इसकी पहुंच चन्द्रमा तक है.

गूगल की जीफोन लाने को लेकर बहुत सारे कयास लगाए जा रहे थे। बाद में कंपनी मोबाइल फोन के लिए एंड्रोएड प्लेटफॉर्म लेकर आई। यह आज सभी फोन यूजर की जरूरत बन गया है।

 

गूगल कोई भी उत्पाद लाता था और वह कुछ दिनों में हिट भी हो जाता है। 2 सितम्बर 2008 में न्यू ओपन सोर्स वेब ब्राउजर लांच किया गया है, जिसका नाम था गूगल क्रोम था, इसके आने के बाद इंटरनेट यूजर को एक नया एहसास मिला.

2001 तक लैरी पेज गूगल के वास्तविक सीईओ बने रहे। अप्रैल 2011 में उन्हें फिर इस पद पर बैठाया गया। एरिक स्मिट एग्जेक्यूटिव चेयरमैन हैं, वे पिछले 10 साल से इस पद पर आसीन हैं।

2006 में गूगल ने ऑनलाइन वीडियो शेयरिंग साइट यू-ट्यूब खरीद ली। यू-ट्यूब पर हर मिनट के हिसाब से 60 घंटे तक वीडियो अपलोड किए जाते हैं। वहीं दुनिया भर लाखों चैनल पर आने वाले प्रोग्राम इस पर अपलोड होते हैं, इस तरह की चीज ने दुनिया को और पास लाकर खड़ा कर दिया.

Kapil Sibal: No Roaming Charges in India from 2013

Here comes the good news for commuters who travel frequently between states within the country, today Indian government has confirmed that it will withdraw the roaming charges from 2013.

Earlier this year, the Minister of Communications and IT, Kapil Sibal announced a plan named ‘One nation-free roaming’, which will have no roaming charges all over India. Now, the Telecom Minister has confirmed that the mobile phone users need not pay any roaming charges from 2013.

Sibal was reported saying “Our secretary has told you that it will be free from next year.” in response to a query put forward regarding the removal of these charges as mentioned in the National Telecom Policy 2012.
In May, NTP 2012 was approved aiming to completely eradicate the roaming charges and let the subscribers use the same number all over the country, without paying additional charges while they are out of their telecom circle.
Telecom Secretary R Chandrashekhar was quoted saying, “We are first going to attend to all issues linked to auction. The moment NIA is issued this week, we will focus on UL. After details of full UL is worked out, the modalities for free roaming will follow.”
According to the schedule, the NIA will be issued on Friday, September 28.
However, this is about to have an impact on the mobile phone call rates, as COAI Director General Rajan S Mathews claimed, “That is matter which we will have to work with Trai (telecom regulator). Trai is ultimately responsible for setting the tariffs…We hope that Trai will follow due process of consultation paper.”

Google Play : Indian Android developers now allowed to publish Paid Apps

Indian Android application developers can rejoice now. Google has decided to let the Indian application developers to publish paid apps to Google Play, their Android app store. Till now, the Indian developers could only publish free apps. This was made possible as Google decided to include India in the list of countries from where developers can publish the paid apps.

The decision of Google is expected to bring back smiles to the face of thousands of application developers in India who can now target for new revenue stream with paid apps getting published in the app store.

Industry experts welcoming this move from Google commented that this was long due and it would bring a strong Indian application developer network to the Android ecosystem thereby bringing in more innovative apps. They hoped that this would pave the way for development of more localized Android apps specifically designed to meet the needs of Indian consumers.

It may be recalled that now Android is fast becoming the most popular mobile OS in India with Samsung and other Indian players like Micromax bringing in a wide range of Android smartphones and feature phones in the market.

Till now it was a huge struggle for Indian app developers and firms as they had to undergo a cumber some process to publish these paid apps. Some companies have even set up subsidiary in US for the sole purpose of publishing their apps in the Play store. Now these firms would breathe a sigh of relief as they don’t need to invest in setting up subsidiary in US or have a local bank account in US to launch these paid apps in Google Play Store.

The new move by Google is expected to increase the number of apps in Google Play store considerably. Currently there are around 6.5 lakh apps in Android store where as it is more than seven lakhs in Apple store.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean : Samsung starts Galaxy s3 update , planned for 10 more smartphones and Tablets

According to an exclusive report from The Verge, the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 has been started by the manufacturer to roll out, starting from Poland today. earlier reports informed that the update will be available IN October, however it seems to be a great update for the current owners of the handset that the update has started earlier than expected.
Reportedly, the update is being pushed out through Samsung’s KIES software, rather than over the air (OTA) but the update is available in the OTA servers and will be soon available.
However, the good news doesn’t just end here, the same report has also confirmed that besides Galaxy S3, the Korean giant will has also provided the folks over there with a full list of devices that will be upgraded to Jelly Bean.

The list includes ten phones: the Galaxy S2,Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy Mini 2, and Galaxy S Duos and also four tablets including the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1; and an unknown device, the Galaxy Music which still holds a mysterious identity.

Facebook Working to Remove Fake Profiles

Popular social networking platform Facebook seems to be inflicted by the increasing number of fake accounts that is being generated on the network. Facebook is planning to counter this issue by introducing new methods for user verification. Facebook currently has a user base of 800 million spread across different parts of the globe.
According to statistics from Facebook, 8.7 percent of its total user base counting around 83 million is fake accounts. 4.8 percent of these are duplicate accounts, 2.4 percent being user misclassified and the remaining 1.5 percent of accounts undesirable. Facebook has already started taking further measures to ensure that this number doesn’t increase.
Pavan Varma, Business Manager with Facebook India stated that Facebook is making huge efforts to reduce the magnanimous number of fake accounts that are currently active in the website and also to prevent misuse of identities of similar fashion. He also added that in case a doubtful account is found, Facebook might ask the user to provide identification details. The official also mentioned that accounts using generic names instead of real names, accounts using images of celebrities/characters/animated pictures as display pictures and accounts without enough number of friends will come under the scrutiny of the company.
Facebook has also raised concern on the increasing number of malware attacks that has been affecting the site recently. There are scripts being generated to increase the number of friends and likes in the social networking platform. All of these supposedly have a negative effect on the user experience delivered by Facebook. As an effort to fight this scenario, Facebook has already facilitated verification of accounts with phone numbers. Users also have the option to report fake accounts if they encounter one.
